Having a hard time deciding what type of professional event to plan? Here are some exclusive tips from our party planning experts.
For office parties, an hour before quittin’ time is the magic hour. For the perfect day of the week, we asked users and office party planners alike and one day kept coming up: Thursday. Plus, choosing a weekday keeps your staff from sacrificing one of their precious weekend nights. Browse our happy hour online invitations to get inspired.
If you don’t have a Thursday night to spare, consider casual cocktails on a Tuesday. You'll give everyone something to look forward to midweek other than a snackless meeting to put on the agenda. But what if you don’t have a Tuesday night to spare? We find that Wednesday works really well for either casual cocktails in the office or nice drinks out. Just consider a time that allows your guests a commute from work and a reasonable return home.
Planning an open house? Daytime on Sunday or Saturday is perfect for a professional showing—guests will appreciate the freedom to choose the hour, you’ll love the relaxed expectations, and if you’re feeling bold, you can keep the fun going and go out after. Preview the open house with our easy online photo invitations templates that are bound to catch your invitee’s attention before the big day.
We also love a classic family-friendly office fête. Start a bit before 5 p.m. 3-5 p.m. is the optimum time to throw a corporate party and still bring the kids. You catch the post-nap and pre-dinner energy window. If you want to throw a party that includes families and children, we do recommend waiting until Saturday, but start the party in the early evening around 5 p.m. The upsides: the childfree can fit another engagement in after your party ends, the parents can get some well-deserved shut-eye, and the children won’t succumb to post-9 o’clock madness.
Planning an adults-only work par-tay? Ideally, you’d host your party on Saturday or Friday evening to give guests time to recover. Traditional party o’clock is 8 p.m, or kick things off a little later to signal wildness over mildness. You can read even more tips on our blog.
